An operational plan for integrated Case Management Neglected Tropical Diseases (CM-NTDS) for the next three years (2019 to 2021) has been developed. NTD/WASH (Water Sanitation and Hygiene) promotion training has taken place in 5 LGAs in Ondo State: Akure North, Ifedore, Ileoluju/Okeigbo, Ondo East and Owo. The highlight of this training is the construction of tippy taps for the communities. According to UNICEF, who supported the training, without good WASH programme, the control, elimination and eradication of NTDs will be difficult.

The Federal Ministry of Health NTD Supply Chain Unit has conducted training for the Local Government and State NTD teams in Ondo State in July, 2018. Some of the topics addressed include NTDs medicine forecast, requisition, qualification and allocation process; inventory management and good storage practices, among others. This activity was supported by UNICEF.

The Federal Ministry of Health, supported by UNICEF has embarked upon the development of innovative IEC materials for the NTDs programme. Some of the existing IEC materials were improved upon. Dr. Chukwuma Anyaike, the NTD National Coordinator, recognizing the urgency for NTD visibility stressed the need for making NTD IEC materials of top quality as this will encourage their use beyond periods of NTD implementation. This exercise took place in Nasarawa State this week.
