Imo State NTD department held their strategic/ micro planning meeting at Owerri this week, on the 6th and 7th of March, 2019. In attendance were the South East NTD zonal coordinator, the Director Public Health from the state’s ministry of Health, the Director Public Health care, Ministry of Local government Affairs, the Director of Training, SUBEB, The Carter Centre officials, 27 LGA NTD Coordinators in the State and their PHC Coordinators as well as all the State NTD Team.
The meeting focused on review of activities carried out in the state’s NTD program in 2018, challenges and way forward. Also, the objectives of developing micro planning template for 2019 NTD activities and acquainting the state and LGA technical officers on NTD Snapshot were attained.
The Carter Centre is the supporting partner in the state.
SCHISTOSOMIASIS MAM COMMENCES IN ADAMAWA STATE
Mass Administration of Medicines has begun in Adamawa State. The exercise entails Praziquantel being distributed to primary school pupils and junior secondary school students in 18 LGAs of the state.
Prior to this, education secretaries and health workers at state level were trained; so also were LNTD and health workers at LGA level.
This activity is supported by Atiku Abubakar Foundation and the World Health Organization (WHO) (who donated the medicines).
