ONDO STATE CONCLUDES 2018 ONCHOCERCIASIS/LYMPHATIC FILARIASIS MAM IN RIVERINE LGAs

Onchocerciasis/Lymphatic Filariasis Mass Administration of Medicines in the riverine LGAs of Ondo State got concluded this week. These LGAs include Ilaje and Ese Odo. MITOSATH is the supporting partner for this activity.

EKITI STATE BEGINS MAM PREPARATION WITH MICROPLANNING MEETING

This week, a state level microplanning meeting was held in Ekiti State towards a soon-to-be-implemented Onchocerciasis/Lymphatic Filariasis Mass Administration of Medicines in the state. The South West Zonal Coordinator, the state NTD team and the implementing partner were all present at the meeting. MITOSATH is the supporting partner in Ekiti State.

UPDATE: 2ND ROUND SBD IN OYO STATE BEGINS

The second round School-Based Deworming exercise scheduled to take place in 13 LGAs of Oyo State has begun.

Some immediate results have been recorded. As expected, worms are being expelled from the bodies of several beneficiaries of this exercise.

KANO STATE KICKS OFF COVERAGE SURVEY FOR TRACHOMA

Coverage survey for Trachoma has begun in Kano State. This activity kicked off this week after a training for the independent monitors was conducted (image above). The sample size for this survey is 10% of the actual numbers of endemic communities. The exercise is estimated to last for three (3) weeks. UNITED/DFID is supporting this survey.

Similarly, a team from UNITED/DFID/SIGHT SAVERS paid an official visit to Kano State this week to discuss the plan for sustainability of the NTD program when external funding stops as the 5-year funding for UNITED will end by March 2019 (image below).
