USAID/RTI LAUNCHES “E-WASH” PROGRAM, OCTOBER 2018

USAID launched a program called, “Effective Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene services” (E-WASH) in Abuja this week. The goal of this program is to improve the availability of clean water and sanitation  for five hundred thousand (500,000) households in selected urban areas in six (6) states in Nigeria. FMOH/WHO HOLD DATA HARMONIZATION WORKSHOP, OCTOBER 2018

The FMOH with support from WHO held a 4-day meeting with Zonal and States representatives in Nasarawa State this week to harmonize the existing data on NTD implementation in Nigeria. SMART templates for the development of work plans & reporting during annual review meetings were also developed during this meeting. JIGAWA STATE PASSES IMPACT SURVEY

Jigawa State has passed the recently concluded impact survey conducted in three (3) LGAs of the state: Babura, Miga and Yankwashi LGAs. Generally, for this survey, a Trachomatous inflammation (Follicullar) – usually referred to as TF – of less than 5% implies a pass mark (among other criteria). The recording and reporting tools for Leprosy, Buruli Ulcer and Yaws in Nigeria have been reviewed. An elite team of stakeholders in the efforts to control and/or eliminate these diseases in the country achieved this in a 4-day meeting held in Abuja this week. The revised Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) engagement framework for NTD programme has been finalized.
