KADUNA STATE NTD PROGRAMME HOLDS SPECIAL ADVOCACY EVENT, NOVEMBER 2018
Kaduna State NTD Programme held a special advocacy event on the 12th of November, 2018. In attendance were, the Chairman of the State Assembly Committee on Health, Directors from line ministries and agencies, private companies, the academia, representative of the NTD National Coordinator, NGDO partners, the NTD Northwest Coordinator, the Chairlady of Kaduna State Civil Society Organization Coalition, representative of Gbagyi Chiefdom and the media.
The aim of the meeting was to create awareness on NTDs as well as present funding gaps to the state government to intervene. Development Alternative International (DAI) sponsored the event.
OGUN STATE NTD PROGRAMME HOLDS REVIEW MEETING
In the South West this week, an NTD review meeting was conducted in Ogun State. The participants at this event include the Director and Deputy Director Disease Control SMOH, Countdown project representatives, Southwest Zonal Coordinator, representative of the Medical Officer of Health (MOH) of the LGAs, and the State and LGA NTD teams. Some highlights of the meeting include LGA data presentation, discussion of issues & challenges to implementation.
In addition, Remo North LGA received a gift for emerging as the best LGA in year 2018. The criteria for selection include medicine management, data & reporting among others. The meeting was supported by Countdown project and Evidence Action.
UPDATE: ONCHOCERCIASIS/LYMPHATIC FILARIASIS MAM IN EKITI STATE, NOVEMBER 2018
This week, a feedback meeting was held in Ekiti State to assess the extent of implementation of the 1st phase of the Oncho/LF MAM that took place in eight (8) LGAs recently. Also, there was a planning meeting for the 2nd phase of implementation which is scheduled to be carried out in the following LGAs: Ikere, Emure, Irepodun/Ifelodun, Ise Orun, Ekiti West, Ekiti South West and Efon LGAs. The highlight of the meeting was the presentation of preliminary data by the LGAs. MITOSATH is the supporting partner in Ekiti State.
